The flow we're building

A research flight should feel like scheduling a test, not standing up a launch campaign. Research Launch Services is the end-to-end path MKII Aerospace is building around the Goddard Sounding Rocket System so a team can hand over a payload and get back flight data and a documented mission record. GT-01 has not yet flown; the scope below is the service as designed, and it firms up with each step of flight testing.

What a mission covers

Mission Planning

Trajectory options, timeline, range and safety planning, and a concept of operations for your experiment — worked with you before anything is built to fly.

Payload Integration

Mechanical and electrical integration to the standardized Goddard payload interface, fit checks, and the integrated-stack testing that precedes flight.

Launch Operations

Vehicle preparation, countdown, and launch execution against documented procedures and checklists.

Recovery

Parachute recovery of the payload section is a first-class part of the system architecture, so your hardware and its recorders come home.

Flight Data Support

Delivery of the recorded telemetry and payload data, with support interpreting the flight environment your experiment saw.

Reviews at Each Gate

Payload review, environmental review, and a launch-readiness review — the checkpoints a program office or PI expects to see.

What are Research Launch Services?

Research Launch Services is MKII Aerospace's full-service flight offering: the customer provides a payload, and MKII provides the vehicle, payload integration, mission planning, launch operations, recovery, and flight-data support. It is designed for research teams that want a flight result rather than a launch program to run.

What does a launch service include?

The scope is designed to cover mission planning, payload integration to the Goddard payload interface, environmental and readiness reviews, launch operations, parachute recovery of the payload, and delivery of the recorded flight data.

When can I fly?

The first Goddard test flight, GT-01, has not yet flown, so a firm manifest is not yet published. Get in touch and we will talk through your target timeline and where it fits as flight testing progresses.

What altitude and payload mass does Goddard support?

The Goddard Sounding Rocket System is designed for an apogee range of roughly 5 to 150 km and payloads of 5+ kg. See the Goddard vehicle page for the full design specification.
